Gibb's farm offers alternative safari accommodation. Rather than standard camp or lodge style accommodation, rooms are housed in luxury cottages on the grounds of a working farm.
Surrounding the old farmhouse are some 18 recently renovated cottages. They are all large, approximately 95 square meters. Each is unique and is named after a theme. The artwork that adorns each cottage is specific to that theme and was commissioned as part of a community arts programme called Sanaa.
Each cottage features a private veranda, outdoor shower, fireplace, bathtub, two

Food is fresh, top quality and carefully prepared. Being based on a farm the hotel makes good use of the various fresh organic produce readily available. Plated dinners are filling and wholesome and breakfasts are good too (though less exciting perhaps). There is often the chance to join the staff in roasting your own coffee to drink.
The dining area is located at the heart of the old farmhouse which is a very pleasant
bonus, though many guests miss the outside or wall-
The farmhouse also offers comfortable bar and seating areas where guests can enjoy a drink. The quality of wines on offer is very good and the farm also offers a fair selection of other beverages (alcoholic and none).
Staff are friendly and offer a professional and attentive service. As you are staying on a working farm, they will also go out of their way to make you feel like part of the farm itself. Many guests compare the experience of a stay at Gibb's Farm to actually owning a farm in the heart of the bush.
Services include laundry (though oddly this must be brought to reception).
Gibb's Farm has one of the most detailed and interesting websites provided by any safari accommodation in Tanzania, visit their website for a host on useful information about the hotel, its history and various safaris.
The farm offers a number of exclusive activities as well as being well located for
game drives in the Ngorongoro area. These include farm tours, coffee roasting, tours
of waterfalls and elephant caves, bird-

Trip Advisor Review Disclaimer:
We estimate that around 30% of the reviews on Trip Advisor are probably fraudulent; something that Trip Advisor is powerless to prevent. What was begun as a chance for fellow travellers to review hotels honestly, has since been subverted as a tool for unscrupulous businesses to promote their own services and to damage their competition’s reputations, and for disgruntled guests whose unreasonable demands have not been pandered to, to punish their accommodation providers.
While the UK’s Advertising Standards Agency banned Trip Advisor from claiming that its reviews were genuine, and while we advise that readers do not assume to be genuine everything that they read, we nonetheless feel that Trip Advisor is still helpful, in the absence of there yet being a more credible alternative service.
