Frequently asked questions about Kenyan safari prices

What is included in these prices?

The following is included in our published safari prices:

- all necessary movements and transfers from your hotel in Nairobi, via the venues on your safari schedule, and back to your Nairobi hotel again.

- all safari costs, vehicle use, salaries of support staff, food and mineral water, and National Park and Game Reserve entrance fees.

- full-board basis accommodation as stipulated in your safari overview with respect to your chosen accommodation grade

What additional costs should I be aware of?

The following are additional cost considerations:

- tips to your safari staff. The customary tipping level is around 8-10% of the cost of the your chosen safari

- pick up at Nairobi airport and transfer to your hotel in Nairobi. We arrange transfers for USD 35 per person, from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to any  Nairobi hotel.

- hotels in Nairobi before and after your safari. We are able to assist with booking hotels in Nairobi on your behalf, but payment for these nights should be in cash on arrival, direct to the hotel.

- while full-board meal plans are included on all our safaris, those wishing to take fruit juices and additional snacks will be required to purchase these themselves. Please bear in mind however, that our Kenyan safaris with SXS are nearly all run as open group safaris, so there is somewhat less flexibility in terms of asking your driver to stop for resupplies. It is therefore advantageous to arrange any required additional provisions yourself, in advance of your safari.

How and when must I pay?

In order to secure your chosen safari dates and accommodation, you will be required to pay a percentage of the safari’s cost. We will advise you of the value of this deposit once you have selected your chosen safari option.

The final outstanding balance of your safari costs will need to reach us no later than 70 days prior to the start date of your safari.

Further information on acceptable methods of payment is given here.

Are your published rates liable to any changes?

Generally speaking, no. Only where standard accommodation options are unavailable and you elect to use and alternative accommodation, will there be any amendment to our published rates. This event is relatively rare, however.

Once you have paid your deposit and we have been able to confirm back to you details of your secured accommodation availability, the price of your safari will not change, with the most recent costs advice that we have supplied to you that correctly details the accommodation that we have confirmed to you as having been secured by your deposit payment, forming the basis of the contract that exists between you and us.
