Frequently asked questions about safari prices


What is included in these prices?


The following is included in our published safari prices:


- all necessary movements and transfers from your hotel in Arusha, via the venues on your safari schedule, and back to your Arusha hotel again.

- all safari costs, vehicle use, salaries of support staff, food and mineral water, and National Park and Game Reserve entrance fees.

- full-board basis accommodation as stipulated in your safari overview with respect to your chosen accommodation grade



What additional costs should I be aware of?


The following are additional cost considerations:


- tips to your safari staff. The customary tipping level is around 8-10% of the cost of the lightweight camping cost of your chosen safari

- pick up at Kilimanjaro Airport and transfer to your hotel in Arusha. The reason we do not include this is that many safari-goers choose to first climb Kilimanjaro with us, and return airport transfers are included in our climb packages. We arrange transfers for USD 50 per journey, for up to 3 passengers.

- hotels in Arusha before and after your safari. There is an excellent range of accommodation in Arusha, for every budget. Please see our hotels page and our hotels price list.

- while full-board meal plans and mineral water are included on all our safaris, those wishing to take fruit juices and additional snacks will be required to purchase these themselves. Your driver will be happy to stop at a supermarket on your way out of Arusha, for any such additions.



How and when must I pay?


In order to secure your chosen safari dates and accommodation, you will be required to pay a USD 150 per person deposit, plus the value of any accommodation in Arusha or on your safari (should you select a semi-luxury or luxury accommodation grade).


The final outstanding balance of your safari costs will need to reach us no later than 30 days prior to the start date of your safari, or, if opting to pay in cash in US Dollars on arrival, 48 hours prior to your safari start time. Please note however, that only credit card payments via PayPal (incurs fees) and wire transfers are acceptable for Kenyan safaris, and must reach us 30 days prior to your safari start date, with the option of cash on arrival not being available.

Are your published rates liable to any changes?


Generally speaking, our lightweight camping safari prices will not change. The only caveat to this commitment is that in the event of Tanzania National Parks Authority amending their park entrance fees without adequate notice, we will be required to pass these on. This event is, however, extremely unlikely.


As regards the prices for our lodge and tented camp accommodation, there are two factors that can alter the amount to be paid from the published rate: a) if you request a specific hotel / lodge / tented camp that is different to the hotel / lodge / tented camp that we factored-in to our standard rate calculation, or b) if any of the assumed hotels / lodges / tented camps on which our published rates are based are not available, we will advise you of available alternatives and detail to you exactly how the price is to be affected by any such amendments.


Once you have paid your deposit and we have been able to confirm back to you details of your secured accommodation availability, the price of your safari will not change, with the most recent costs advice that we have supplied to you that correctly details the accommodation that we have confirmed to you as having been secured by your deposit payment, forming the basis of the contract that exists between you and us.
